| My Experience with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder |
|
|
I had suspicions that my husband has adult attention deficit disorder
after I started dating him. It was a dilemma as to whether I should
move forward in a relationship with him after knowing some of the
tendencies of a person who has this disorder.
Adult attention deficit
disorder is also hereditary which means that it could very easily be
passed on to future generations. However, I found myself falling for
him very quickly because he was so adorable and passionate about life.
I made the decision to be with him and adjust to his symptoms.
Most of those who suffer from adult attention deficit disorder were not properly diagnosed as a child. Symptoms could be managed if a person with this disorder had been attended to at a young age.
My husband had grown up in and out of foster homes and no one had ever taken the time to have him checked. No one had taken the time to actually pay enough attention to him and notice any symptoms because they simply assumed that he was a hyper and impulsive child.
Researchers are paying more attention to adult attention deficit disorder in recent years. Diagnosed adults, who were not diagnosed when they were young, seek help with similar symptoms. People who have this disorder often have very low self-worth.
They cannot understand why they feel like failures despite the fact that they may be incredibly successful. They can become angry quickly and lash out at others and their anger can be gone just as quickly.
A person suffering from adult attention deficit disorder may find it difficult to organize tasks and projects and procrastinate often. They can often get into financial trouble because of their lack of organizing and ability to plan. This then leads to more frustration and feelings of low self-worth. Those who think that they may have adult attention deficit disorder can learn to adapt and work with their issues with knowledge and education. They can learn to channel their creativity by putting it to good use. Medication can also treat this disorder effectively. Medical advice and knowledge can help in more ways than imaginable. Disorders are not something to be ashamed of because they are common and can be treated. |
